FOUNDER OF THE WILD AND THE TAME AND MUMMY TO TWO BEAUTIFUL BOYS
I’ve always been creative, studying furniture design at university before moving into a fast-paced PR career in London, where I was fortunate to represent world renowned designers and architects. When I became a mum and we started a new family life in the Kent countryside, my creativity was rekindled as I searched for a better work-life balance.
The seed of an idea for this small business came when I found that baby clothing and accessories in the very specific style I was looking for were few and far between on the high street. I wanted characterful, nature inspired designs for my little one. Beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces that I could really fall head over heels in love with.
I thought there must be other mums searching for statement items for their baby’s nursery and wardrobe too, and loved ones seeking extra special gifts that'll be treasured. With a long-time dream to start my own creative business, I realised this was the perfect opportunity. So, whilst pregnant with our second son, I decided to take the plunge and start handmaking products myself.
I’d always had an eye for pattern and colour but I couldn't quite put into words what I was looking for. After months of searching, I finally discovered the most stunning fabrics, illustrated by British designers, and I knew these were "the ones". I rescued my mum’s hefty 30-year-old metal body sewing machine from our loft, taught myself to sew, and The Wild and the Tame was born – a couple of months before our second baby!
I now spend my days handcrafting beautiful products in my home studio. Each piece is made with absolute joy, care and attention to detail, and I’m so grateful for every single order.
My collection celebrates both the fierce and gentle personalities among our little ones. Dainty prints sit alongside bold, colourful designs, with new limited edition fabrics introduced every few months.
